I’m Nicole. I’m a freelance writer, editor, proof-reader and communications specialist.
I started my career in publishing working for the children’s book publisher Andersen Press. I loved working there. I loved the books from the illustrated picture books to the gritty teenage novels. I loved the team – small, but ridiculously talented. And, I loved the opportunity to meet artists, illustrators and writers.
During that time, I developed my writing skills through creating press releases, award submission copy, advanced information sheet copy as well as back cover copy.
Thereafter, I worked for a communications agency called Fifth Business. At Fifth Business, I collaborated with our in-house design team to come up with creative and engaging communications for a number of different clients. I worked on projects at Shell, BP, Sainsbury’s and Astra Zeneca. I valued the experience of working with such high profile clients.
I produced copy for online and magazine publications, project-related change communications as well as copy for internal and external communications.
Freelance experience and blogs
In 2009, our first little one was born and I started working on a freelance basis. I also started a blog when we moved to France in 2012 and when we went travelling with our children in 2017. I’ve amalgamated the two blogs here.
On this blog, you can read about our experience of living in France and of travelling with our children.
And, if you need some copy for your communications – be it a blog or a website or a magazine – please contact me. I’d love to hear about your project and find out how I can help.
